Just because you don’t name the direction, doesn’t mean that you aren’t going in one…

SYI was created to encourage and inspire people to say, “yes,” to taking control and owning the direction of their lives,
both personally and professionally, through workshops/training and coaching.

DCI© Model: Define, Clarify, Implement

The Say Yes Institute builds coaching, training and workshops around their created Define, Clarify and Implement (DCI) Model©. This powerful model helps clients achieve profound personal and professional success because it is a concrete tool that can be used to individually develop a plan for every identified goal. Participants are encouraged to explore the DCI Model© through a series of thought provoking questions and interactive/reflective activities. This three step process has been proven to be an effective strategy, both with individuals and within groups, because it quickly fosters a sense of focus and inspires direct action.

The three steps of the DCI Model© are:

Define: The first step focuses on the “what.”

This step supports exploration around the many levels of clearly defining your goals, because you need to know, specifically and concretely, exactly what it is that you want to achieve.

You have to know what you want to get.
Gertrude Stein

Clarify: Step two focuses on the “why.” This is a crucial step in achieving success because it requires clarity around why you believe a goal is worth achieving, warranting your time and attention.

Many goals are defined on the intellectual level (knowing it would be a good/positive goal to achieve), but the goal may not fully resonate with the person. It is important to answer they “why’s” around the value of reaching a goal in order to obtain optimal investment and commitment. Step two also covers the hierarchy of what the priority/focus will be around the goal when moving forward.

You have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage — pleasantly, smilingly, nonapologetically — to say ‘no’ to other things.
And the way you do that is by having a bigger ‘yes’ burning inside.
Stephen Covey

Implement: The final step is about the “how.” Every goal requires a concrete plan of implementation, detailing how and when it will be done. Success only comes through action and movement. A clear implementation plan is the crucial last step of this process.

It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them.
They went out and happened to things.
Elinor Smith

This three part model is a powerful opportunity for people to engage in a reflective assessment of personal/professional goals, determine why those goals are important, and develop a plan of action to reach those goals. The Model works for those seeking personal/professional success because it is concrete, direct and clearly focused on developing a comprehensive strategy to reach/achieve each identified goal.
