12 Mar Do you know where you’re going??
“A goal properly set is halfway reached.”

Do you just love to be surprised when you ride the elevator?
Do you anxiously wait and see what buttons will be pushed by other riders?
Do you just get off at whatever floor the elevator stops at?
Absolutely not.
You enter an elevator because you want to go somewhere, and you know where that is.
Upon entering, the first thing you do (the first thing we all do!) is to press the button (over and over!) for the floor we want to get to.
We don’t wonder where it’s headed, or where we’ll get off.
We know where we are going and want to go directly there.
Quickly.
So, the question becomes:
What happens when we get off the elevator?
What happens when you enter life?
How is it that so many (too many!) people appear to be waiting to see what happens and where the doors will open~
- With their careers…
- In their relationships…
- With their finances…
- In their health…
How is it we have so many people that don’t know where they want (or need) to go?
Why are there so many that know where they want to go, but aren’t pushing the button for the right floor?
You would never ride an elevator without direction and action…
so what are you doing with your life?
Suggestion:
What can you do if you feel like your life is an elevator ride, with no destination?
The SYI has created the DCI (Define, Clarify, Implement) Model (c) to support people around personal/professional growth!
1. Define what you want (in any/all areas of life that you want movement in).
Be specific.
Be excessively specific!
Be as clear as you can be.
Think of it as naming your destination.
You would never just say that you were going to vacation “at the beach.” What beach? Where? What hotel? When are you going? How are you getting there?
2. Why do you want this?
Really name it.
Why is it this destination is important to you? You are going to clarify why you want to achieve this goal.
If you don’t know why you want it, how are you going to get it?
3. How are you going to get it?
This is your implementation plan.
You need to have a course of action that you’re going to take.
It won’t work if you just want to wait and see when or if it happens.
You aren’t a passive observer of your life!
You’re in charge of it! So, what’s your plan?
Think about your life, and think about the elevator.
Where are you going, and have you pressed the button yet?
